I love books. That, I think, is what
truly separates a serious bookseller from a person who just wants to
make
money. After many years spent in the corporate field, I realized that I
should
be working with books and not under the corporate sector.
I do not sell books simply
to
make money; I sell books because I want to. To me, spending
time in a
bookstore is one of my greatest moments of pleasure. Walking along the
new
release tables, searching for a book that will delight and stimulate my
mind
makes me tingle if you can believe that. There is no greater pleasure
than
finding a new author or book and purchasing it; that book now belongs
to you
and reading it opens new doors.
Another reason why I want to sell
books
is because that, given my specialty, I want the freaks of the world to
know
that they now have someone on their side – a freak
bookseller. I have always
been an eclectic person, giving respect to the world beyond what normal
eyes
perceive. Ever since I was 13, I have always been amazed at things that
most
would scoff or ignore because they do not understand. I do not consider
myself
evil, confused, or going “through a phase” but
rather myself: a woman who is
not of the norm and is proud of it. No one should feel that they are
less of a
person simply for the way that they dress or what they believe in. To
me, we
are all sacred.
If you’ve ever felt ashamed or embarrassed in wanting to buy a book of a “questionable” nature from a chain bookstore, feel that way no longer! Ask me for anything your little heart desires and if I do not have it, I can find it! Whether your taste is for fairies, vampires, witches, intellectual and stimulating fiction, or Jack the Ripper, I will probably have several books about it!
So
come inside, have a cup of tea, and
spend some time in my little bookshop.
